Gültekin Okay Salgar  (b. 1953, Kars, Turkey) stuied Darmstadt Technical University between 1971 and 1972.  He returned to Turkey to study Mechanical Engineering at the Ankara State Architecture Engineering Academy. Inspired by a paraffin production plant he had toured in in Germany, he decided to begin producing paraffin in Turkey. He is the chairman of Mercan Kimya AŞ, Dermokim Ltd. Şti., Cosmer Kozmetik AŞ, and Rowax Global SRL.

In 1977, he founded the Gültekin Okay Salgar sole proprietorship. He has run many a successful project over his 43-year (and counting) career. He still is a  board member on TÜRKNFED, GESİFED, DESİAD, and GEKA. Between 2005 and 2016, he served as the vice president of the Denizli Chamber of Industry. He is fluent in Turkish,  English, and German, married, and has two children.
