About Physical Therapy Paraffin Wax

Physical therapy paraffin wax is a specially formulated wax used for thermotherapy (heat therapy). It is typically produced by blending paraffin wax with mineral oils or specialized conditioning agents. This unique formulation features a low melting point and high heat retention capacity, both of which are critical for medical applications.

Key Features

 Low Melting Point

Unlike conventional candle waxes, it liquefies at a safe, skin-tolerated temperature of approximately 45-55°C without causing burns to bodily tissues, allowing direct application to the skin.

 High Heat Capacity

Paraffin releases heat slowly and steadily to the surrounding tissues. As a superficial heating agent, it is remarkably effective for delivering deep heat to joints and bony areas.

 Safe and Reliable Use

Its reusability and self-sterilizing properties when remelted provide significant cost-effectiveness and hygienic advantages in clinical and rehabilitation environments.

Therapeutic Benefits of Heat

 Vasodilation (Blood Vessel Dilation)

Thermotherapy dilates local blood vessels to accelerate blood circulation, boosting cellular metabolism and facilitating the tissue healing process.

 Pain and Muscle Spasm Relief

Superficial thermal elevation relieves muscle spasms and acts on sensory nerve endings to deliver a soothing analgesic effect.

Fields of Application (Indications)

Paraffin bath therapy is widely prescribed in rehabilitation protocols for rheumatic conditions, post-traumatic stiffness, and chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes.
